Nigerians across social media platforms have been awash with reactions following a viral claim involving Wunmi, the widow of late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, popularly known as Mohbad.

Reports circulating online allege that Wunmi recently welcomed a new baby with another man, a development that has triggered widespread debate and speculation among netizens.

The rumour surfaced barely a month after members of Mohbad’s family reportedly barred her from continuing to use their surname, further intensifying public interest in her personal life.

The claims, which first gained traction on X (formerly Twitter), immediately sparked controversy, with many users questioning the timing and circumstances.

Mohbad passed away on September 12, 2023, and his death remains the subject of ongoing investigations, with his body reportedly still in the morgue pending burial.

The viral speculation has also reignited calls for a DNA test on Liam, Wunmi’s son with the late singer, who was just five months old at the time of Mohbad’s death.

Following the unresolved and controversial circumstances surrounding the singer’s passing, as well as allegations of infidelity levelled against Wunmi, Mohbad’s father, Joseph Aloba, had previously demanded a DNA test to establish the child’s paternity.

Reacting to the trending rumour, actor Stanley Ontop took to Instagram with a sarcastic post that further fuelled online conversations. “Mohbad died in 2023, him wife give birth in 2025? What God cannot do does not exist! Clap hand for Jesus… Anyways, in life as a man try not to kpai, no matter what. Life goes on. Anyways congratulations iyawo Mohbad,” he wrote.

Other social media users also shared varying opinions. An X user, @MasterminddBoB, criticised Wunmi amid the speculation, suggesting poor judgement in the face of the ongoing DNA controversy surrounding Liam.

Another user, @AgbafianTV, posted a harsh commentary that drew mixed reactions, while warning men against emotional attachment.

In contrast, some users adopted a more measured tone. @callme_Riken noted that even if the claims were true, Wunmi was entitled to move on with her life. “Life doesn’t pause forever,” the user wrote, adding that personal decisions should not be indefinitely tied to unresolved family disputes.

Others questioned the authenticity of the report entirely. @djokaymegamixer expressed scepticism, suggesting that the story could be a hoax deliberately pushed to generate online engagement. “There is nothing these guys can’t tweet all in the name of hustling engagements,” the user said.

As of the time of filing this report, neither Wunmi nor representatives of Mohbad’s family have officially confirmed or denied the claims.

The development underscores the intense public scrutiny that continues to trail the late singer’s family, as well as the unresolved questions surrounding his death and legacy.
