Soldiers allegedly kills policeman for stopping colleague driving against traffic

Some soldiers who are believed to be assigned to the Ojo Cantonment Barracks have reportedly stabbed a police officer named Saka Ganiyu, resulting in his tragic death. This incident occurred after Officer Ganiyu confronted one of the soldiers for driving against the flow of traffic near the Volks Bus Stop, which is located along the Ojo Iyana Iba Road in Lagos State.

According to various reports on the situation, the soldier who was stopped was not in uniform at the time of the incident. He was driving a T4 Volkswagen commercial bus, which did not have any official registration number, when the police officers were on duty at the Volks Bus Stop and noticed him violating traffic rules.

It appears that an argument broke out between the soldier and the police. In the heat of the moment, the soldier reached out to some of his fellow soldiers for help. Soon after, a group of these soldiers emerged from the Ojo Cantonment Barracks. They approached the scene and attacked the policemen present, escalating the situation dramatically.

During this violent confrontation, Officer Ganiyu suffered serious injuries. He was quickly taken to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital to receive urgent medical care. Despite the efforts of the medical staff to save him, the injured officer unfortunately passed away in the hospital while he was receiving treatment for his wounds. Following his death, the body of Inspector Ganiyu was taken to the morgue at the hospital.
