Southwest Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at an Extended Zonal caucus meeting in Ibadan, Oyo State, declared support for national unity, fairness, equity, and zoning of the 2023 president to the south. The PDP leaders in the southwest in a communique at the end of the meeting in Ibadan, read by the PDP Vice Chairman, Southwest, Soji Adagunodo, declared support for the Southern Governor’s Forum resolution that the Nigerian President in 2023 should be zoned to the south.
The communique disclosed that the Southwest PDP supports the Southern Governors’ Forum that the next President of Nigeria should come from the south.
The Southwest PDP stakeholders also demanded the distribution of federal positions across all geopolitical zones with fairness and equity that will aid national cohesion.
Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State solicited the unity of party members, appealing that the party needs to put aside its differences and give support to the Ekiti and Osun states governorship candidates.
In attendance at the Southwest PDP stakeholders meeting were former Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State, former Governor Olusegun Mimiko of Ondo State, former Deputy National Chairman, South, Bode George, among others.
