Raheem Sterling on Friday night inspired Chelsea to record their first Premier League victory. The 28-year-old had endured an underwhelming first season at Stamford Bridge after joining from Manchester City.

And Christopher Nkunku’s injury has meant that Chelsea must rely on Sterling to come good and, so far, he is answering their prayers.
Sterling scored his first goals of the season against Luton Town and set-up Nicolas Jackson to open his Chelsea account in the club’s first Premier League victory under head coach Mauricio Pochettino.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Sterling maintained: “I was happy, obviously I think we started half-decent against Liverpool. Needed to get a win here and happy to contribute to that. I need to get on the back foot and do what I do and drive at players. I’ve had a look at myself… I want to get back to being obsessed by football and focus on top performances and goals and assists.”
The fans of the Premier League giants can only hope that the team will build on this victory and give their season the desired push.
