Popular motivational speaker, political analyst and book writer Reno Omokri recently spoke on the claims that Black Africans are being illy treated by the Ukrainians amidst the evacuation process happening in Ukraine due to the Ukraine-Russian conflict. In regard to the alleged ill-treatment meted on black Africans in Ukraine, Reno Omokri addressed how black Africans were illy treated in South Africa during the surge of xenophobic attacks in the country.

While bringing up past records on xenophobic attacks in South Africa, Reno Omokri said that what is happening in the Ukrainian border isn’t racism as he further compared what is currently happening at the Ukrainian border to what xenophobic incidents that happened two years ago in South Africa.

“Today I want to talk about something that has concerned me for the past 48 hours. Now, with the war in Ukraine, we’ve seen what has happened at the border, we’ve seen that Black Africans have sent videos, which has led to an uproar of people accusing the Ukrainian border officials of racism and discriminate against black folks. But let me tell you, what is happening in the Ukrainian border isn’t racism”.

“I saw a report from a South African website saying Black Africans were not allowed in. It is not racism. You have to understand that in a situation like this, a government would have to look out for its own citizens first”.

“Now I want to ask you a question especially black South Africans, I have seen their reaction on Twitter and I’ve read their own newspaper and saw how they were condemning the treated being meted out on black Africans in Ukraine”.

“Two years ago there were several xenophobic attacks by black South Africans. They were attacking black Africans from other parts of Africa. They looted and burnt their properties. If we in Africa do not love ourselves, how do we expect others to love us. The scripture says love your neighbours as yourselves. So, let’s deal with the issue”. Reno Omokri said in his six minutes long video.
