Sunday Igboho gets relief as court awards N20bn aggravated damages

The leader of the Yoruba nation agitator, Sunday Adetyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho has got a relief in his battle for freedom. The activist was awarded N20 billion aggravated damages by an Oyo State High Court in his suit against the federal government over the invasion of his residence by the Department of Security Service (DSS).

The presiding judge, Justice Ladiran Akintola of the Oyo State High Court adjourned the case after issuing the order.

Sunday Igboho filed the suit demanding N500 billion compensation for the infringement on his fundamental human rights by the DSS in the invasion of his residence.

However, counsels to the Federal Government had sought the court to upturn an interim order of the court restraining the federal government from arresting or freezing Sunday Igboho’s accounts.
