Football is the most watched sporting event across the world. So there is no dearth of football events to keep the favs occupied throughout the year. If you are one of the fans who enjoy gambling, you might find helpful information to make successful wagers here.

The Nigerian National Football team, Super Eagles are not having a great run this year. After missing the ticket to the FIFA World Cup in March, the vice-captain William Troost Ekong had expressed his disappointment, but had assured fans that they would be back “better and stronger”. They had lost the match to the Black Stars of Ghana, which made it Nigeria’s fourth failure in a row to attain a place in the World Cup. But not everything seems to be well for the team, as a lot has been going wrong for the different players of the Super Eagles.

A few days ago, Victor Osimhen, who plays as a forward striker for SSC Napoli, injured his femoral bicep muscle in his right thigh during a match against Liverpool on Wednesday. He had reportedly been having discomfort after he was knocked down in the game against Lazio on Monday. Cristiano Giuntoli had assured worried fans that there was no need to be scared as it was not a major injury. Osimhen is one of the star players for the Super Eagles, and his performance for Napoli is proof. He scored 14 goals in 27 matches and almost single-handedly secured a position in the Champions League for his team.

Now, it is another important Super Eagles player who has been moved to the sidelines for the season by a major injury. On Monday, as Real Sociedad played against Getafe, star striker Umar Sadiq suffered an injury in the 38th minute of the game and had to be replaced. The club, later on, informed them that he had suffered a rupture in his anterior cruciate ligament which put him out of the season.

This means Super Eagles is short of two of its usual players which leaves it in a sticky situation. The friendly international batch scheduled against Algeria will have to play without these players, and that does not spell good for the team. Of course, replacements are available, but the problem that often arises with replacement players is the chemistry within the team.

Football is a team sport, and it requires immense coordination among players to carry out a successful match. Regular players who get years to practice with each other are more aware of their member’s styles, which makes it easier for them to chalk out moves during matches. Replacement players are put at an undue advantage, as it would still take some time to get acquainted with the members’ style of playing. With hardly two weeks left for the match, it doesn’t leave enough time for the replacement players to practice. It remains to be seen how Super Eagles fare in this upcoming match which is scheduled on September 27th.
