Nollywood actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele has shared insights on the path to success, urging young creatives to prioritise self-discovery and continuous growth beyond talent.
In a post on her Instagram page, the award-winning filmmaker noted that talent alone is not sufficient to guarantee success, emphasising that her own journey has been shaped by intentional growth and personal development.
Reflecting on a recent speaking engagement, Akindele stressed the importance of understanding oneself before seeking recognition or success.
“Everything begins from within. Self-discovery is the first step. Before the spotlight, before the recognition, before the success, you have to know you. I spoke about how talent is never enough. Growth has to be intentional. Reinvention is necessary, and evolving is the only way to truly stand out and last,” she said.

She further encouraged creatives to remain committed to their craft despite challenges, noting that each individual’s journey is unique and requires consistent effort and adaptability.
“I’ve had to rediscover myself at different stages of my life and career, and I’m still evolving. To every young creative, your journey is yours to define. Do the work within, stay committed to growth, and never be afraid to evolve. The more you understand who you are, the more unstoppable you become,” she added.
