An 18-year-old, Temitope Olamoru, has been remanded in custody for allegedly assaulting and inflicting grievous harm on a young girl, Iremide Olawale, using a razor blade in Lagos.
During the hearing at the Ikeja Magistrates’ Court, Police Prosecutor SP Josephine Ikhayere detailed the incident, stating that Olamoru carried out the brutal attack on March 12 at approximately 10:15 p.m. on Faiusi Street, Ajegunle, in the Alakuko area of Lagos.
“The defendant unlawfully attempted to murder Iremide Olawale by attacking her with a razor blade, leaving deep cuts on her face, neck, and hand,” Ikhayere informed the court.

Olamoru has been charged under Sections 230(b) and 245 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015, which criminalizes causing grievous harm and attempted murder.
Presiding Magistrate Lateef Owolabi ordered the defendant to be remanded in custody while adjourning the case until April 14 for further proceedings.
Authorities have condemned the attack, emphasizing the need for swift justice. Legal experts highlight that such violent crimes could result in severe penalties, including long-term imprisonment, under Lagos State laws.
