Tension in Osun as bandits kill five farmers

Tension began to build up in Osun State after bandits killed five indigenes of Modakeke who were on the way to their farms in Toro Village on Friday. Sources told National Daily that the killing of the five local farmers was a shock to residents of the state considering that the governor of the state had deployed over 20,000 hunters, beside other vigilante groups to secure Osun State.

Members of the Community in collaboration with the Police were said toa have recovered the dead bodies of the victims.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of Osun State Police Command, Yemisi Opalola, was said to have disclosed that the Commissioner of Police, Olawale Olokode, urgently deployed security personnel to the area on receiving report of the killing.

The PPRO, Yemisi Opalola, appealed to residents of the state to be calm, assuring that the Police will get to the root of the incident.

Security operatives in collaboration with the local hunters were said to have gone in search of the killers. The local hunters were said to have effectively provided security protection for the state, forcing many bandits to flee to Zamfara and other parts of the northwest. the recent killing was gathered to have taken the people by surprise, raising apprehension of unsafety in the state.
