The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu; and the Labour Party candidate, Peter Obi, on Monday survived the suit filed by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) at a Federal High Court in Abuja seeking their disqualification
The court dismissed the suit questioning the legality of the substitution of their running mates citing lack of jurisdiction to entertain the suit, adding that the suit was a gross abuse of court process.
The presiding Judge, Justice Donatus Okoronkwo, in the judgment stated that all the reliefs sought by the PDP are not grantable.
The PDP had challenged the submission of “placeholder” or temporary running mates, arguing that the replacement of running mates of the APC, Ibrahim Masari, with Kashim Shettima, and Doyin Okupe of the Labour Party (LP), with Dr. Yusuf Baba-Ahmed, were contrary to the Electoral Act 2022.
