Tottenham are believed to be desperate to keep their talisman Harry Kane at their north London ground amid continued links to Bayern Munich with a reported offer of a ‘massive new contract’.

National Daily can confirm that the future of the England captain has been up in the air for several months now with the 29-year-old out of contract in 2024 and keen to move on after Spurs endured an awful season last time out.

Both La Liga and Premier League giants Real Madrid and Manchester United respectively, were believed to have initially led the race for the striker but their interest has cooled as Tottenham have no intention of selling their hitman, even if it means losing him on a free next summer.

Though Bayern had appear to have retained a great interest in Kane, despite having a £70million bid rejected, with the striker meeting with manager Thomas Tuchel.

Though Kane’s preference would be to stay in the Premier League and break Alan Shearer’s goal-scoring record, it is said he would be content to move abroad for few seasons before returning home.

Amid all of this, National Daily learnt from the claim by The Guardian that Spurs have offered their star man a new contract and though details are scarce, they say it ‘would significantly improve his £200,000-a-week terms’.

Daniel Levy is determined to keep Kane, who found the back of the net 30 times last season to become the club’s all-time top goalscorer, but the striker is in no rush to make a decision on his future.

Levy is confident he can persuade him to stay in north London, not only with an improved salary but also with the promise and ambition that new manager Ange Postecoglu has so far brought to the club.

The former Celtic boss aims to bring entertaining, attacking football back to the club and has already made several impressive new signings.

Highly-rated attacking midfielder James Maddison has arrived from Leicester as has goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario, with winger Manor Solomon, who impressed on loan a Fulham last season, also set to join.

Tottenham are also close to agreeing a deal for Wolfsburg centre-back Micky van de Ven, while it is also said that they want to permanently sign Clement Lenglet and are hoping to convince Barcelona to release him on a free.
