Popular Nollywood actress Toyin Abraham has declared that she will no longer exchange pleasantries with fellow actress Funke Akindele following an awkward encounter at a recent movie premiere in Lagos.

The incident occurred on Sunday night during the premiere of a new film by actress Iyabo Ojo, where several celebrities gathered for the high-profile event.

A viral video circulating on social media shows Toyin approaching Funke in what appeared to be a friendly gesture. In the clip, Toyin was heard saying, “Aunty Funke, good evening ma,” while gently tapping her colleague to get her attention.

However, Funke appeared not to respond. She looked away and did not acknowledge the greeting, despite the visible attempt to engage her. Toyin, seemingly embarrassed by the moment, quietly walked away from the scene.

The video quickly sparked widespread reactions online, with fans and social media users weighing in on the perceived snub. While some commentators described the moment as uncomfortable and unnecessary, others urged caution, suggesting that the situation may have been misunderstood.

The incident further fueled ongoing conversations about relationships and rivalries within Nollywood, with many users expressing disappointment over what they described as negative energy between two of the industry’s most prominent figures.

Reacting to the viral clip under an Instagram post, Toyin confirmed that she had unfollowed Funke on the platform and declared that she would not greet her again.

In a comment that has since been deleted, Toyin wrote: “I have unfollowed her, God forbid bad things. If I ever greet her again that means I’m a bastard.”

The statement intensified online debate, drawing mixed reactions from fans of both actresses. While some supporters backed Toyin’s decision, others called for reconciliation and maturity.

As of press time, Funke Akindele has not publicly addressed the incident or responded to Toyin’s comments.

Both actresses are regarded as major forces in Nollywood, with successful careers spanning film production, acting, and entrepreneurship. Their professional paths have occasionally intersected in the highly competitive Nigerian film industry.

Whether the latest episode will lead to a deeper rift or eventual reconciliation remains unclear, but the public exchange has once again highlighted the intense scrutiny that accompanies celebrity interactions in the age of social media.
