A 34-year-old travel agent, Segun Ilemobayo, was on Thursday brought before an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan to face charges of obtaining money under false pretense and stealing, in connection with an alleged visa fraud.
The defendant, Ilemobayo, pleaded not guilty to the two-count charges leveled against him.
The Prosecutor, ASP Musbau Lawal, informed the court that the accused committed the alleged offences between September and October 2024 in the Ojoo area of Ibadan.
According to the prosecutor, Ilemobayo fraudulently obtained the sum of N6,975,000 from one Mrs. Osuji, deceiving her with the promise of securing a working visa for her husband to Luxembourg.
However, he allegedly failed to procure the visa and instead converted the money for his own personal use.

ASP Lawal stated that these actions are in violation of Sections 419 (obtaining money by false pretenses) and 390(9) (stealing) of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
The presiding Magistrate, Olaolu Olanipekun, granted bail to the defendant in the sum of N1 million, with the condition of providing two sureties in like sum.
The case has been adjourned until May 21st for further hearing.
