U-20 World Cup: FIFA Inspection team hit Uyo

A five-man FIFA inspection team is expected in Uyo today, Wednesday, August 7, in regards to Nigeria’s bid to host next year’s FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup, National Daily learnt.
The FIFA team which touched down the Murtala Muhammed International Airport on Monday evening for a four-day inspection visit, comprises Christopher Exley, Sara Jane Booth, Kilment Taseski, Rhiannon, Ceirwen Martin and Heyral Kaj Jurgen will be joined by NFF Executive Member, Emmanuel Ibah, and NFF’s Principal Technical Officer, Mr. Nasiru Jibril, in Uyo.
Lagos, Benin City, Asaba and Uyo have been selected as host cities for the 10th FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup 2020 – first to be hosted in Africa.
National Daily gathered that the inspection team is expected to visit Godswill Akpabio International Stadium (Main Bowl and Practice Pitch), Ikot Ekpene Township Stadium, Ibom Specialists Hospital, University of Uyo Teaching Hospital as well as Le Meridien Hotels and Golf Resort before paying a courtesy call on His Excellency Governor Udom Emmanuel at Government House.
Nigeria’s women u-20 team is one of only four teams to have participated in every edition of the tournament since its inception in 2002.
