UBA donates N500m to Lagos Security Trust Fund to bolster safety initiatives

The United Bank for Africa (UBA), through its corporate social responsibility arm, UBA Foundation, has donated N500 million to the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF) to enhance security infrastructure and create a safer environment for individuals and businesses in Lagos State.

The donation was formally presented to the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, by the UBA Group Chairman, Tony Elumelu, alongside the bank’s Deputy Managing Director, Muyiwa Akinyemi, at the State House, Marina, Lagos, on Sunday.

Speaking during the presentation, Mr. Elumelu reaffirmed UBA’s commitment to supporting security initiatives that drive economic development and improve societal well-being.

He said, “At UBA, we understand that security is critical for economic growth and societal well-being. Our donation to the Lagos State Security Trust Fund is a reflection of the bank’s belief in building safer communities to enhance the quality of life for all. We are proud to partner with the Lagos State Government to achieve this shared vision of a secure environment conducive to investment and development.”

Governor Sanwo-Olu expressed gratitude to UBA Group and the UBA Foundation for the significant gesture, noting its potential impact on strengthening the state’s security apparatus.

He commended Mr. Elumelu for his longstanding commitment to initiatives that drive progress and enhance citizens’ well-being.

The Governor said, “We are grateful to the UBA Group for their significant contribution to the Lagos State Security Trust Fund. This donation will strengthen our efforts to enhance security and protect our citizens. Together we are building a safer Lagos for all.”

The N500 million donations is part of UBA Foundation’s Special Projects initiative, aimed at addressing critical societal challenges through strategic partnerships and targeted interventions.

Over the years, UBA Foundation has demonstrated a strong commitment to fostering sustainable development in key areas, including education, environmental conservation, economic empowerment, and special projects across Africa.

Highlighting the link between security and economic growth, Mr. Elumelu emphasized UBA’s leadership role in corporate social responsibility and its belief in collaborative efforts to address societal challenges.
