Alice Edwards, the UN independent human rights expert on torture, has called for the unconditional release of all Israeli hostages in Gaza.
In a statement on Tuesday, she condemned the recent killings of six hostages and urged an immediate halt to hostilities.
Following the October 7 terror attack by Hamas and other groups, approximately 250 individuals were taken hostage, with 97 still unaccounted for.
Edwards expressed concern that the threats to their lives are escalating and highlighted reports of sexual violence against some female hostages.
