…Bureau says it’s untrue
Following widespread rumours that a passenger plane from Gabon to Lagos has crashed at the Oworonshoki area in Lagos, the Accident Investigation Bureau (AIB) says it is untrue.
Denying the alleged crash, AIB spokesman, Tunji Oketunbi said that there wasn’t any crash but there was anactivity in the area being conducted as a “mock search and rescue exercise by the police and aviation authorities.”
The exercise, which was said to have involved helicopters and teams of policemen and rescuers, took place around the area where a helicopter crashed in August 2015, killing six persons.
The exercise was directed at providing adequate safety drill to sharpen the response readiness of the necessary agencies to air disasters.
