Following a challenge party operatives threw for a rally in Anambra similar to that of Port Harcourt on Saturday, the Obidient Movement trooped out in Onitsha on Sunday for their LP’s candidate Peter Obi.

Critics of the movement believe the southeast Obi hails from is reeling in IPOB’s sit-at-home menace and the “unknown” gunmen violence; it’s then convenient for those promoting him to rally elsewhere—on highways, parks, and public places.

Reno Omokri, a PDP operative, commended the Port Harcourt rally on social media.

“However, let me recommend a crowd pulling strategy to Peter Obi. When next IPOB declares a sit at home, let the Obidient movement organise a rally. Or are the Obidient movement afraid of IPOB?,” he wrote.

Omokri pointed out how Obi has been afraid of IPOB all along,.

“He has never defied IPOB by personally organising activities during their sit at homes in the Southeast. If he refuses to defy IPOB in his backyard, how can he withstand Nigeria’s security challenges?”

So on Sunday, the Anambra chapter of the movement hit the inner streets in some neighbourhoods promoting Obi, the former governor of the state.

In spite of the presence of security agents, the crowd was nothing compared to that of Port Harcourt’s on Saturday

The rally commenced at exactly 11.30am from the Zik’s Avenue, near the Chinua Achebe’s Stadium, Fegge, Onitsha.

It was billed to end at the stadium.

IPOB has insisted it is not supporting Obi or any Igbo presidency, adding it is only interested in the disintegration of the Nigerian enterprise.

Gunmen have been burning INEC offices, destroying voting equipment and killing election management workers across the southeast.
