Update: Gen Tchiani emerges Head Of Transitional Government in Niger
General Abdourahamane Tchiani on Friday emerged the Head of Transitional Government in Niger Republic after the coup that ousted President Mohamed Bazoum on Wednesday.

State television report on Friday, indicated that the Chief of the Presidential Guard was named “President of the National Council for the Safeguard of the Homeland.”
The Presidential Guard had since the coup on Wednesday detained President Bazoum and blocked access to the Presidential Palace in Niamey.
