Lagos State government on Thursday recorded one step of victory in the battle for state collection of Value Added Tax (VAT) with the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) at the Court of Appeal.
The Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja in a preliminary judgment on Thursday granted a request by the Lagos State Government requesting to join Rivers State in the appeal filed by the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS).
The Appeal Court, granting the request of Lagos State government, directed all processes filed to be served on the Attorney-General of the State, Moyosore Onigbanjo.
The Court later adjourned the case to October 7, which would be heard at the Court of Appeal sitting in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
The FIRS had filed an appeal at the appellate court to challenge the collection of Value Added Tax by states.
