Vice President Kashim Shettima arrived in Akure on Wednesday for the grand finale of the All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign in support of its governorship candidate, Gov. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, ahead of Saturday’s election in Ondo State.
Gov. Aiyedatiwa, who assumed office following the death of Rotimi Akeredolu on December 26, 2023, is seeking to retain the governorship seat for the APC in the upcoming election.
Shettima landed at Akure Airport around noon, accompanied by a delegation of key political figures, including state governors and National Assembly members.
Among the governors in the vice president’s entourage were Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State, Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State, Abiodun Oyebanji of Ekiti State, and Usman Ododo of Kogi State.

Notable figures also included Senator Opeyemi Bamidele from Ekiti, former Edo State Governor Adams Oshiomhole, Minister of Interior Bunmi Tunji-Ojo, and Minister of Youth Ayodele Olawande.
Shettima’s visit is part of the final push for the APC as the party intensifies its campaign efforts in the days leading up to the election.
According to reports, the vice president is expected to pay a visit to the Palace of Deji of Akure, Oba Ogunlade Aladetoyinbo, before proceeding to the campaign venue for the final rally.
