President Muhammadu Buhari is now in the pink, and he’s willing to spar with anybody that doubts it after a 10-day holiday in London ended on Sunday.

“You know I am taller than you. Do you want to wrestle me?” Buhari asked in Hausa language when a Villa correspondent probed his state of health on arriving at the Nnamidi Azikwe International Airport at 5.30 pm yesterday.

“You can see me inspecting the guard of honour. You saw me when I was going. So you can do the assessment yourself.”

Many had concluded the 73-year-old president tormented by a persistent ear bug and a nagging cough flew to the U.K. for medical attention—as advised by the Nigerian doctors that confirmed the infection.

But his media special adviser, Femi Adesina, told reporters yesterday Buhari was treated and certified fit in Nigeria before he jetted out.

Adesina referred to the press statement issued before—that the doctors only advised the president to see experts while vacationing in London.

Yet it was widely reported Buhari was billed to see ENT specialist in London,

“Some people called it medical leave. It was not,” said Adesina. “It was a leave to rest, and during that rest, experts now looked at his health.

The now bubbly president resumes work on Monday, according to Adesina.

Among those that came to receive Buhari and his co-travellers (including two of his children) were Zamfara Gov. Abdulaziz Yari, his counterpart from Kogi, Gov. Yahaya Bello, and some federal executives.

Apart from inspecting the guard of honour, the president also savoured a high-octane waist wiggling Yoruba cultural dance by the national troupe that came to welcome him.
