Why Real Madrid is falling against all odds

  • and why depthless Barca is doing better
Ediale Kingsley wears his analysis hat on this one.
“Where is Madrid?
The Real Madrid…”
It took two Antonios to break Madrid last night. One a goalie, Real Madrid’s former keeper, Antonio Adan. The youngster saved seven amazing targets while a late goal from Antonio Sanabria ensured a win for Real Betis.
Zidane might just be having a recession of ideas. Time like this you remember Pep Guardiola’s famous sabbatical leave. A cue Zidane should consider taking.
Modric is to midfield, what Ramos is to defense, what Ronaldo use to be to attack.
So removing Modric, in a match that needed plenty of pressure-supplies from midfield. Against the unavailability of a super winger, Marcelo, is simply a suicide mission.
Real Betis only gave Madrid the space to commit the suicide. Technically speaking it was a Homicide.
So why didn’t Madrid score in this game. Aside the practical 2-1-4-4 formation that ensured two sets of mobile defence wall of 4 players each. Madrid’s attacking leads are loosing steam.
Suddenly, you see why Benzema is still the king of that forward and you realise that Madrid didn’t do too well selling Morata with no replacement.

Here are some key points from the night:

UNHAPPY BERNABEU

The defeat leaves Real Madrid without a win in their three home La Liga games this season and in seventh place in the table, seven points behind leaders Barcelona, who beat Eibar 6-1 on Tuesday.

BARCA RIDE HIGH

Newspaper Marca lays out the bare facts. “The scoring streak ends and Los Blancos are now 7 points behind Barcelona”

SANABRIA THE STAR

Ronaldo, Bale, Modric, Kroos and co were all outshone by 21-year-old Sanabria, who capped his performance with a memorable winner in stoppage time.

ADAN GETS HIS REVENGE

Antonio Adan left Real Madrid in 2013 after graduating from the club’s youth academy. He only made seven appearances for the first-team but he gave the club a reminder of his calibre here, keeping out Real’s seven shots on target.

REAL’S RECORD ENDS

Real’s all-time Spanish record of scoring in 73 successive games came to an end.

Is Neymar exit not a blessing in disguise?

While Madrid are losing points, the Barca we all thought will be sorry for losing Neymar seem to be soaring.
Once again, Messi really just needs to be responsible for himself.
And the result is glaring for all to see. You can be a hater or a pessimist and flicker the debate that this Barca team may not really be able to hold against a top notch team.
But I will answer you by saying, Juventus hasn’t been beaten in their league this season. Yet they fell to this Barca side. So we all will agree that Juventus is a top notch side.
Let’s face it, Neymar was a beautiful player with his excesses. As romantic as Jay Jay Okocha played he was a liability to PSG at a point.
Don’t get me wrong. This isn’t a beef vendetta. It’s just a review, of this Neymar exit saga.
Call it ‘counting the costs’. Or more technically, managing the loss. Now Barca has Alba doing the traditional winger crossings and direct run ins. They have Iniesta organizing the networkings. They have Suarez and Deulofeu crossing in as well.
Now Suarez can be the Real 9 (we actually mean the deceitful 9, that doesn’t really have to score).
While Messi becomes the false 9 (again, we speak in paradox, we mean the original 9, that pretends to play deep by playing deep but coming forward to score).
All against playing for the MSN…
Now they play for M.
Funny how that was a jibe and a joke against Barca when Neymar was departing Barca.
Before MSN…there was just M. Pedro and Sanchez where all there to pretend to be important.
Now don’t wonder why Barca seem to be getting the good results.
National Daily wrote about it 35mins after Neymar’s exit in that glorious piece titled WHY NEYMAR WONT BE MISSED and NEYMAR EXIT A BLESSING OR CURSE.
We said Neymar will be remembered but not missed.
