Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has increased his romance with All Progressives Congress (APC) in recent times. The Governor on Tuesday invited former APC Governor in Sokoto State, Senator Aliyu Wamako, to inaugurate the Ogbunabali Eastern Bypass Dualized Road in Rivers State.

Wike, however, despised former Governor Rotimi Amaechi in his romance with APC leaders. He had invited Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State on Monday to commission completed projects in Rivers State, then Wamako on Tuesday.

Governor Wike commended Wamako for honoring his   invitation as Special Guest, which he said was on short notice.

The APC governorship candidate in Sokoto State, Ahmed Aliyu, former Deputy Governor of Sokoto State, who  served with Governor Aminu Tambuwal, was also in attendance on the invitation of Wike.

However, the Deputy National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), South-South, Chief Dan Orbih, was accommodated at the event by Governor Wike.

The Rivers State Governor clarified his invitation of APC leaders to commission completed projects in the state. “There is no law prohibiting me from inviting people from other walks of life to come and see what we are doing or what we have done,” Wike declared.

The governor disclosed that he received a call from a stakeholder who said that people are complaining that the economy of Nigeria is dying, asking the Rivers State government is turning out projects every time.

Wike emphasized that development is a reflection of the attitude of the leader, saying that a leader who has capacity to deliver will always perform irrespective of a party platform, even in a smaller party. According to him, “leadership is not about a party; Leadership is about an individual. Party is only a vehicle to leadership. Leadership is about the capacity and passion to serve the people.”

The Rivers governor in a seeming innuendo, chided the former Minister of Transportation, who is from Rivers State, over his failure to use his office to attract development projects from the federal government to the state.

“There is nothing wrong in being close to people in power, but what did you achieve? What is the impact of being close to a president?

“Not close to you to drink, no! but close to power to make an impact, bring development to your people,” Wike declared.

The Special Guest, Senator Aliyu Wamako commended Wike for his performance.

Wamako, acknowledging Wike’s participation in the presidential primary election he lost to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, counseled him that he still has more time on his side for further efforts of becoming the president of Nigeria. He   added that Wike has shown that he has the capacity to do more work in leading the country.

According to  Wamako: “I have seen what you are doing, I have seen what you have done, you have       the capacity to do more.

“You are talk and do governor of Rivers State,

“You are part of us, we are part of you.

“He is a model governor.

“There is still more time for you.”
