Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State may be seemingly facing unpopularity at home support over his stance on the prolonged crisis in the Peoples Democratic party (PDP). Certain stakeholders in Rivers are beginning to perceive Governor Wike as a man that does not have his own will but allowed himself to be told what to do by former Governor Ayo Fayose of Ekiti State.
The stakeholders told Wike to learn from the experience of former Governor Godswill Akpabio of Akwa Ibom State who after much popularity when he was governor no longer get such popular attention.
The stakeholders reminded Governor Wike that his tenure ends in May 2023, and thereafter, all the perquisites of office will depart from him. They, therefore, admonished the governor to learn from history. They were of the view that the Rivers governor is loyal to a man not the party.
Fayose may have generated the controversy when he tweeted that he accompanied Governor Wike on the final inspection before the commissioning of Odili Cancer and Heart Center in Port Harcourt.
Fayose on his official twitter handle wrote: Peter Ayodele Fayose@GovAyoFayose “Today, I accompanied my brother and friend, Governor Wike of Rivers State, the one that is called MR PROJECT, on final inspection ahead commissioning of Dr. Odili Cancer and Heart Center in Port Harcourt.”
@GovAyoFayose “I laugh as May 2023 is here. All the gragra and attention Wike is generating now will end in 2023 .Where is Akpabio today? let’s learn history”
“You sound mature but a man should know what is stand for? You don’t have a stand until Fayose tells you what to do. “You are loyal to a man and not the party.”
