A Yoruba youth group under the aegis of the Yoruba Youth Assembly (YYA),  has declared support for the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, facing certificate scandal, urging him to remain focused despite ‘politically motivated attacks’.

The Minister,  Tunji-Ojo, has been facing allegations of certificate forgery from political opponents, who have been calling for his sack.

The YYA, in a statement on Monday in Lagos jointly signed by the YYA President, Olarinde Thomas, and the Spokesman,  Jide Alofe, urged the Minister to ignore distractions.

According to Thomas, the attacks against the minister are distractions aimed at undermining his outstanding performance in office.

“Tunji-Ojo should ignore all distractions and remain committed to national service,” he said.

He commended the minister for actualising President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda in the ministry.

Thomas said the minister’s leadership had brought visible improvements to the ministry of interior.

“These include efficient passport processing, improved border security, and enhanced visa administration,” he stated.

He also praised youth empowerment initiatives under the minister’s supervision.

“These achievements have earned him nationwide appreciation as a symbol of good governance,” he added.

Thomas dismissed allegations regarding the minister’s academic credentials, describing them as resolved and politically driven.

He cautioned against any attempt to distract or tarnish the minister’s image.

“Such claims are the handiwork of disgruntled politicians and should be disregarded.

“An attack on Hon. Tunji-Ojo is an attack on the collective dignity of the Yoruba people.

“The minister’s national performance should be a source of pride for Ondo State. Performance remains the true measure of leadership,” he added.

The youth leader called on Gov. Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State, to caution appointees making derogatory remarks against the minister.

According to him, Tunji-Ojo is a man of peace, integrity, and honour who deserves support.

Thomas applauded the minister for his commitment to youth development.

“His service is impactful, commendable, and worthy of continued support,” he said. (NAN)
