The embattled Labour Party Governorship Candidate in Plateau State, Amb. Yohanna Margif, has reminded Dr. Patrick Dakum that the recent federal High Court Judgement to his favour will soon be reclaimed, as he has concluded plans to approach the Court of Appeal.
Margif said temporal celebration is only for a short period as truth will always prevail against injustice.
Recall that a federal High Court in Jos last Friday, upheld Dakum as the Labour Party governorship candidate in Plateau on the grounds that Margif has failed to present a convincing document to counter the claims that he did not sign a document of withdrawal from the governorship race.
Crisis started in the party following the emergence of two governorship candidates, Yohanna Margif and Patrick Dakum.
Dakum had earlier contested and lost the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket, after which he moved to the Labour Party and contested a controversial primary of which he emerged a candidate on August 6, 2022.
However what gave credence to Margif’s candidacy of the governorship ticket, was that he left the APC before everyone, even before the APC primaries was conducted and moved to Labour Party to contest and picked the governorship ticket.
It was however when Dakum lost the APC ticket that he came to negotiate with Margif to relinquish his ticket to him, an offer Margif turned down, according to interviews he granted.
“Monies offered to me by Dakum were turned down, I cannot sell my ticket, because it is a mandate given to me by God to serve the people”, Margif had said in an interview with our correspondent.
Insisting that Margif had collected money and have written a letter of withdrawal from the governorship race, Dakum went ahead with a faction of the Labour Party leadership in Plateau to hold a fresh primaries were a voice vote gave him the controversial LP governorship ticket that led to Margif approaching the court for justice.
The court however ruled in favour of Dakum which triggered jubilation in the camp of Dakum, but Margif had told them to jubilate with caution as he had taken a step further to approach the Appeal Court for continuous hearing of the suit.
