The lawmaker representing Esan South-East/Esan North-East Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives of the National Assembly in Abuja, Barr. Deacon Sergius Oseasochie Ogun, has celebrated the defection of Governor Godwin Nogheghase Obaseki and Deputy Governor Phillip Shaibu of Edo State to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The federal lawmaker in a statement on Friday, declared: “on behalf of the PDP family in Agbazilo, in particular, and Edo State, in general, I wholeheartedly welcome the Wake and See Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki, and his loyal deputy, Comrade Phillip Shaibu, to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). “I have no doubt in my mind that your coming will be a blessing to the party in many ways. I am glad that your defection has inevitably marked the annihilation of the APC in the South-South geo-political zone.”
The federal lawmaker assured Governor Obaseki of his unalloyed loyalty and support in his leadership of the state PDP. He maintained that “the PDP remains the largest party of true democrats in Africa.”
The lawmaker further declared: “As a party, we are proud of your giant strides in the last 43 months and we are more than ready to work with you to move the state to greater heights of development and prosperity.
“Welcome home, Your Excellency. Edo State will not return to Egypt. Affliction will not rise a second time. Forward ever.”
