The Nigerian Youth Project 2019 (NYP), a support group, has opened a campaign office for former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, in Port Harcourt, Rivers , and its planning to buy a nomination form for him.
The south-south chapter of the group, based in Olusegun Obasanjo Road, Port Harcourt, is also asking Atiku to declare his intention for the 2019 presidential election.
MYP’s National Coordinator Alhaji Orlu Nyekachi said the call was based on Atiku’s track records in business and his leadership qualities when he was vice president.
According to Nyekachi the present APC administration has failed the nation, and the only northern candidate that could turn around Nigeria is Atiku.
“As a group, we have conducted an opinion pool (sic) of all the northern elites who have indirectly or directly shown interest to run for the presidency in 2019 in both the PDP and APC including the incumbent president and we discovered that Atiku stands as the best option.
“The Nigerian Youths Project 2019 therefore urge Atiku Abubakar to declare his ambition to contest the 2019 presidential election on the platform of PDP.”
Atiku cross-carpeted for the third time in 12 years to the PDP, after three years as a stalwart of the ruling party he said has failed him and Nigerians, especially the youth.
He is expected to throw his hat to the ring again in 2019, and his campaign thrust, apparently, has been the youth and restructuring.
