2 APC leaders who may not win their states for the party if they emerge as presidential candidates
As the 2023 Presidential race is fast approaching, political leaders have been reaching out to prominent Nigerians across the state about their presidential ambition.
It should be recalled that some leaders of the All Progressives Congress APC, had declared their interest to contest Presidential race while some Leaders are yet to declare their interest to contest Presidential race.
Among the Presidential Aspirants of the Party, who had declared their interest to contest Presidential race, are the National Leader of the Party, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Governor of Ebonyi State, Governor David Umahi, the Governor of Cross River State, Governor Ben Ayade and the Senate Chief whip, Senator Orji Uzor Kalu.
However, some leaders of the APC may not deliver their states for the party, even if they emerge as presidential candidate of the Party.
It was rumoured that Amaechi is nursing presidential ambition, to contest the presidential race under the platform of the party. Though, Amaechi is yet to declare his interest to contest presidential race to the public.
It was also rumoured that Amaechi is an annointed presidential candidate of President Muhammadu Buhari.
It should be recalled that President Muhammadu Buhari made it known that, he would not reveal the identity of his annointed presidential candidate to the public.
However, Amaechi may not be able to deliver the state for APC, if he could emerge as presidential candidate of the party. The reason is that APC is not popular in the state.
Meanwhile, Rotimi Amaechi and some prominent leaders of the party in the state, are not having good relationship with one another. For instance, Amaechi and Senator Magnus Abe are not having good relationship in the state.
As a result of the crisis, rocking the party in Rivers state, Amaechi may not be able to deliver the state for APC.
It should be recalled that Governor Umahi, recently made his Intention known, to contest presidential race, under the platform of APC. Governor Umahi was one of the three PDP Governors, who dumped the party for APC.
However, Governor Umahi may not be able to deliver the State for APC, if he could emerge as presidential candidate of the party.
The recent judgement given by the Court in the state, which sacked Governor David Umahi and his Deputy, may destabilize the structure of the APC in the State.
It should be recalled that, the leaders of the PDP, had earlier sued the Governor and his deputy, for dumping the party they used to win governorship election for APC.
Another point is that, the former senate president, Senator Anyim Pius Anyim, who is a chieftain of the PDP, had also declared his Presidential Ambition to contest under the platform of the party.
Meanwhile, Senator Anyim is also popular in the state and it may be difficult for Governor Umahi to deliver the state for APC because the votes will be shared by both APC and PDP in the state.
