3 APC politicians Iyorchia Ayu can convince to return to PDP

It seems Mr. Iyorchia Ayu is leaving no stone unturned in his bid to reposition the People’s Democratic Party ahead of the 2023 polls. The new chairman of the PDP has even predicted that the APC would collapse by March or April, 2022.

And one of the ways to weaken the APC is to convince the top politicians of the party to join the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). He has stated that Mr. George Akume would be back in the PDP. That means Mr. Iyorchia Ayu must have been making some moves to bring the powerful minister back into the PDP.

Both Akume and Ayu are from Benue State. And Ayu used to be a political leader to the minister. Akume dumped the PDP for the APC, but while talking in Gboko, Mr. Ayu revealed that based on things on ground now, George Akume would be on his way into the PDP. If Akume does as predicted by Ayu, Benue APC would become weaker.

There is nothing bad in approaching the top senator from Anambra State, Mrs. Stella Oduah. Her defection to the APC was recent and it is highly possible to bring her back into the party. Mrs. Oduah rose to prominence in politics through the opposition party.

But while Anambra was preparing for the last governorship election, Mrs. Oduah announced her defection. Then, it would have been better if the candidate of the APC, Mr. Andy Uba had won the poll. The defection of Oduah would have been consequential. However, with the loss of APC in the poll, she might be willing to return.

The PDP may risk losing Anambra State in the next presidential and national assembly elections. In order to put itself in a very solid position, it is better to convince Stella Oduah to return to the PDP.

The PDP can’t underestimate the importance of transpiration minister. Mr. Rotimi Amaechi is one of the strategists that helped the APC to claim power. He was fully in charge of the campaign of the APC at the national level.

It’s true that that the All Progressives Congress isn’t successful at the Rivers State level. Yet it is also true that the presence of Amaechi in the APC can constitute a big threat to the PDP.

Each of George Akume, Stella Oduah and Rotimi Amaechi has spent a good time in the PDP. And as Iyorchia Ayu just began his leadership in the party, he can begin to talk to APC politicians and appeal to them to return to the PDP.
