The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Lagos Zone, is organizing a solidarity rally today, Tuesday, to protest the dismissal of five lecturers from Lagos State University (LASU).
The union contends that the dismissals were unlawful and a violation of the lecturers’ rights.
In a letter obtained by the press, ASUU stated, “This is to respectfully invite you to the National Day of Solidarity Rally in support of five of our members illegally dismissed from service by the inept, inglorious and vindictive an administration at the Lagos State University, Ojo.”
The rally is scheduled to begin at 10 AM.
In 2019, LASU dismissed several ASUU members, including the union’s chairman, vice chairman, secretary, assistant secretary, and treasurer.

The university accused them of unauthorized removal, retention, distribution, or publication of confidential documents.
However, the dismissed lecturers have denied these allegations.
The rally is expected to draw significant attention to the ongoing dispute between ASUU and LASU and highlight the concerns about the treatment of university staff.
