The Ogun state Police Command has allayed the fears of some communities in the state over a threat letter purportedly written by bandits, describing the letter as the handiwork of some mischievous minds.
Recall that residents of Ishara and Ogere in Ikenne and Remo-North Local Government Areas of Ogun State received letters from bandits who threatened to attack them.
“I was in a prayer group yesterday when we were told that bandits wrote a letter of planned attack to Ogere and Ishara communities in Ogun state,” a resident said.

A principal in Ishara was reported to have confirmed that the letter was written to the two communities.
However, Spokesperson of the State Police Command, SP, Abimbola Oyeyemi, who confirmed the development, described the letter as mischievous.
“We are investigating the so-called letter with a view of getting whoever wrote it arrested because some people will just sit down and think of ways of causing unnecessary panic in the minds of the people. We are not leaving any stone unturned in arresting the people behind the dangerous letter,” the PPRO stated.
When asked if he sighted the letter, Oyeyemi said, “We saw a composed letter, we discovered that a mischief maker wrote it. Aside from that, we are not in any way relaxing on operational activities across the state so with or without any letter, we ensure that we put a very strong security arrangement on ground to ward off any form of a situation from any angle. We are on the ground.”
