The United States Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, had on Monday reiterated his support for President Bola Tinubu, Chairman of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), on the efforts to restore constitutional order and reinstate ousted President Mohamed Bazoum, in Niger Republic.
Blinken in a tweet revealed that he spoke to the Nigerian President, commended him on his leadership of the ECOWAS, while they discussed discussed “shared efforts” to constitutional order and reinstate President Mohamed Bazoum.

The United States Secretary of State in the tweet, wrote: “Spoke to Nigerian President Tinubu to commend his leadership of the Economic Community of West African States and discussed shared efforts to restore constitutional order in Niger.

ECOWAS leaders, had on the expiration of the 7-day ultimatum to the military regime in Niger Republic to quit office and reinstate ousted President Bazoum and restore democracy in the country, ordered the deployment of “Standby Force” to restore democracy in Niger.
The Niger military had vowed to prosecute ousted President Bazoum for “high treason and undermining internal and external security” as tension rises in the country.
