President of the Dangote Group, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, has revealed that his conglomerate paid an unprecedented N450 billion in taxes to the Federal Government in 2024—making it the highest tax-paying entity in Nigeria, surpassing even the entire banking sector combined.

Dangote made this disclosure during President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s official visit to the Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals Plant in Lekki, Lagos, on Thursday, June 5, 2025.

The landmark visit was part of the President’s ongoing tour of major private sector-led infrastructure projects across the country.

In addition to its record tax contribution, Dangote also announced the Group’s commitment to investing N900 billion in road infrastructure across Nigeria under the Federal Government’s tax credit scheme.

This includes the construction and rehabilitation of key roads that are already improving connectivity in remote and commercial regions.

One of the flagship projects highlighted by Dangote is the Deep-Sea Port Access Road, which links the Lekki Deep Sea Port and the massive Dangote Refinery complex to key commercial corridors.

According to him, the Access Road is just one of eight strategic road projects covering a total of 500 kilometers, including critical routes in Borno State that will eventually connect Nigeria to Chad and Cameroon.

“These roads are not just about logistics; they are economic lifelines that will support regional trade and integration,” Dangote said.

He emphasized that the road investments are part of a broader partnership with the federal government, aimed at accelerating infrastructure development through the Executive Order 007 scheme, which allows private companies to construct public infrastructure in exchange for tax credits.

Dangote took the opportunity to praise President Tinubu’s administration for creating a conducive environment for investment and private sector participation, calling him “a courageous leader” whose policies have revived investor confidence and energised the real sector.

“Mr. President, your administration has provided clarity, boldness, and predictability—qualities that businesses need to grow and expand,” he stated.

As a symbolic gesture of appreciation, Dangote announced that the main access road to the Dangote Refinery would henceforth be named Bola Ahmed Tinubu Road in honour of the President’s vision and enduring support for industrialization.

“The Dangote Refinery complex is, in many ways, your brainchild,” Dangote said, addressing the President directly. “Mr. President, let me just say one thing—the main road leading into our refinery is now to be known as Bola Ahmed Tinubu Road.”

The announcement was met with loud applause from dignitaries and stakeholders present, as President Tinubu rose from his seat to shake hands with Dangote, visibly moved by the recognition.

The Dangote Petroleum Refinery, situated in the Lekki Free Trade Zone, is Africa’s largest single-train refinery and a critical asset in Nigeria’s journey toward self-sufficiency in fuel production and petrochemicals.

The $19 billion facility has begun phased operations, with the capacity to refine 650,000 barrels of crude oil per day at full capacity.

President Tinubu commended Dangote and the Group for their patriotism and transformative investments, reaffirming his administration’s support for public-private partnerships that can unlock Nigeria’s economic potential.
