Desmond Elliot seeks forgiveness, reconciliation with Gbajabiamila, APC leaders [VIDEO]

Lagos State lawmaker and actor, Desmond Elliot, has apologised to Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, over his conduct during the last All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election, signalling a move to mend fences with the party’s leadership in Lagos.

Elliot, the lawmaker representing Surulere Constituency I in the Lagos State House of Assembly, reportedly expressed regret over his actions during a meeting with Gbajabiamila and other party leaders.

In an emotional gesture, the lawmaker knelt and later prostrated before Gbajabiamila as he sought forgiveness and reconciliation.

Elliot reportedly acknowledged that he had been misguided at the time and expressed his willingness to move beyond the disagreement and restore his relationship with the party leadership.

Elliot seeks return to APC fold

The development is seen as an attempt by the lawmaker to rebuild political ties within the APC structure in Lagos following disagreements surrounding the party’s last primary election.

Elliot also accepted the verdict of his constituents and pledged renewed loyalty to the Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC), the influential leadership structure within the Lagos APC.

He appealed for his reintegration into the wider APC family, signalling his readiness to work with the party’s leadership and stakeholders.

Gbajabiamila subsequently embraced Elliot after the apology, in a gesture interpreted as a sign of reconciliation.

A political homecoming

The meeting has renewed attention on the importance of internal reconciliation within the Lagos APC, particularly as political actors seek to consolidate the party’s structure ahead of future electoral contests.

Elliot, who has combined a career in the Nigerian film industry with politics, has been a prominent figure in Lagos politics since entering the State House of Assembly.

His latest overture to Gbajabiamila and the APC leadership could mark a significant step towards resolving the differences that emerged during the previous primary election.

For the lawmaker, the gesture goes beyond a personal apology, as it represents an effort to restore trust, reaffirm political allegiance and secure his place within the APC’s Lagos political family.
