As far as the incoming presidential election is concerned, one of those northern politicians is expected to get the presidential election ticket of the opposition party.

It should be recalled that all governors from the southern part of the country have initially agreed to produce the next president of the country. It is now so surprising to see that the northern part of the country is still leading the presidential race of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of the determined southerners.

To fasten processes of producing the next presidential candidate of the opposition party, some governors in the south made sure that the present national chairman of the party, Iyorchia Ayu, emerged from the northern part of the country. Despite all these, the presidential race of the party is still in favour of northerners as far as the incoming general election is concerned.Atiku Abubakar, the former vice president of the country, is one of the leading aspirants of the opposition party ahead of the incoming presidential election. He has been working assiduously to pick up the presidential ticket of the party just like he did in the previous presidential election. Before he started his political agitations for the incoming presidential election, he clearly said that the zoning system should not be a factor to consider when choosing the flag bearer of the party. He has been looking forward to securing the ticket of the party.

Apart from Atiku Abubakar, Dr Bukola Saraki from Kwara State is also among the people that are leading the presidential race of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He declared his ambitions concerning the upcoming presidential election when he paid a visit to the governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom. He has been endorsed by many PDP groups in the country. He was the one that welcomed the Lagos4Lagos movement leader, Jide Jandor, to the opposition party.

Lastly, Alhaji Aminu Tambuwal from Sokoto State is also interested in lifting the flag of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He has been expressing his intentions to run for the office of the president in the incoming presidential election. Atiku Abubakar, Bukola Saraki and Aminu Tambuwal are all from the northern part of the country. Although some southerners are also looking forward to lifting the flag of the party, they are not still in the race compared to other northern leaders.
