In another bold step to boost efficiency, operations and visibility through procedural re-engineering and overhauling its internal mechanism, the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators of Nigeria (ICSAN) on Tuesday inaugurated its various sectoral groups.

Speaking at the ceremony, President/Chairman of Council, ICSAN, Mrs. Funmi Ekundayo (FCIS) said for the past 57 years, ICSAN has produced seasoned professionals who had contributed their quota to Nigeria’s economic advancement.

“The rationale behind this inauguration is to constitute our diverse members from various callings into effective, pragmatic and efficient cells which we operate as parts of the organic whole in the collective pursuits of our mission and vision.

“The various sectoral groups we are launching today are Academia Sector, Insurance and Pension Sector,, Energy Sector, Built Industry Sector, Digital Economy Sector, Logistics Sector, Maritime Sector, Media and Creative Sector, Manufacturing Sector, Not-for-Profit Sector and Public and Allied Institutions Sector.

“There is hardly any sector of our economy that you would not find a Chartered Secretary; we are the engine that powers the economy and national productivity.  It is often said that an institute or any organisation for that matter is only as powerful as members that compose it.

“So, we want to leverage on our intellectual capital by organizing our members into focused, vibrant and efficient groups to enable them contribute more effectively to the Institute’s growth and aggrandizement.

According to her, the ICSAN, has lined up a seasoned and accomplished Corporate Governance Professional to give a Keynote Address on this august inauguration occasion in the person of Dr. Frank Aigbogun.

“We want the various groups to be focused, informed and proactive regarding issues and developments in their respective areas. For example, we want the groups to come up with draft positions papers for the Institute on trending matters of national importance that occur in their industry.

Earlier in her remark, Deputy Registrar (Acad)/Head of Secretariat, ICSAN, Oladuni Ogunsulire (FCIS), said the sectoral groups are the newest layer of ICSAN organ dedicated to both organic growth of the Institute, and by extension, the development and growth of our nation.

“We want the impact of the Institute to be felt all across board, and all across the sectors, to such an extent that the stakeholders in both the public and private sectors would be seeking for ICSAN opinion on virtually every major issue relating to governance.

Ogunsulire explained the sectoral groups must work together with synergy to project ICSAN core values in the hallowed quest to realize its aims and objectives as a progressive Institute.

“The Institute holds Annual Conference, which is 48 hours away, to enable Members and other stakeholders come together to deliberate on trending issues on best practices in the profession as well as on issues of national importance,” she added.
