A traditional ruler of Aghara, Kabba-Bunu local government area of Kogi State, David Obadofin has died in the custody of his abductors after 12 days in captivity.

According to reliable sources, the monarch who died last Thursday was tortured by his kidnappers.

One of the sources lamented that when the abductors noticed that Pa Obadofin was becoming too weak, they agreed to collect the sum of N2m for his release and that of one other lady, identified as Temidayo Elewa.

The abductors, according to the source, blindfolded the lady (Elewa) and relocated her to a different place in the bush in a bid to cover up their tracks while waiting for the ransom of the monarch to be delivered.

According to the locals, Elewa, who was abducted alongside the monarch, had been set free and reunited with her family since Saturday.

Reports said a mobile tailor who spotted her roaming helped her out.

The source explained, “Elewa was picked up around Obajana settlement by her family members on Saturday morning. She was taken to an undisclosed hospital for medical checkup.”

On Easter Monday, the late monarch, a major cashew farmer and Elewa were abducted by unknown gunmen from his farm residence in Aghara in Kabba-Bunu LGA at about 11pm, demanding N60m ransom.
