Organizers of the recent #EndBadGovernanceinNigeria  Nationwide protests, which took place across the country from August 1 to 10, 2024, are gearing up for another round of demonstrations in October.

Damilare Adenola, the Director of Mobilizations for the Take It Back Movement, confirmed the upcoming protests in a statement on Monday.

The new series of protests, dubbed the “Fearless in October Protest,” will echo the same demands as the previous demonstrations unless new issues arise that necessitate additional demands.

Adenola emphasized, “Our charter of demands remains unchanged.

If necessary, we will expand them in response to the country’s worsening conditions.”

The August protests saw a significant turnout nationwide, including in the Federal Capital Territory, despite government appeals for the youth to refrain from participating.

Protesters had previously presented a list of demands, which included the abolition of the Senate, restructuring the National Assembly to a part-time legislature, increasing the minimum wage to N250,000, reversing fuel and electricity tariff increases to pre-January 2023 levels, and securing the release and compensation of EndSARS and political detainees.

When asked about complying with court orders from state governments requiring protests to be held at designated points, Adenola firmly stated, “We won’t accept the compliance.”

In addition, activist and Human Rights Lawyer Deji Adeyanju reported ongoing efforts to secure the release of individuals detained during the previous protests.

“All efforts are being directed towards securing the release of those who have been arrested,” Adeyanju confirmed in a phone call with the press.
