NDE, firm empower 100 youths on digital skills.

 

The National Directorate of Employment ( NDE) and a private firm, Wonderman Digitals, have empowered 100 youths in film and television content production.

The one-week training was organised in Abuja by the Youth Empowerment Initiative of the Directorate in partnership with the firm.

Mr Daniel Chukwuka, Team Lead of Wonderman Digitals, said this in a statement on Thursday in Lagos.

Chukwuka said: ”the actual training lasted for one week after which a cross section of the participants with keen enthusiasm were selected for a seven-day practical boot camp.”

He expressed gratitude to the NDE for giving opportunities to the youth to upscale on their existing skills, as well as acquire new abilities.

Chukwuka also commended the President of Citizen Journalists Network (CJN), Mr Michael Edem-Duke, for his unwavering support and partnership toward the success of the training.

Malam Nuhu Fikpo, Director-General, NDE, represented by Malam Isa Abdul, Director, Vocational Skills and Development, lauded Wonderman Digitals, for creating such a platform.

Fikpo also commended the youths present at the training and encouraged them to remain focused and hardworking.

He said the training would suffice as foundation for participants to develop and excel in their individual capacities.

“This is the only thing we can do, bring you together and expose you to opportunities that you can now tap from and make the best out of them,” he said.

Mr Austine Nwaulune, Director of Digital Economy, Nigeria Communication Commission (NCC), said the commission was partnering the NDE and Wonderman Digitals to empower youths with digital skills for jobs and self-reliance.

The training faculty was led by Mr Henry Lodam, a seasoned expert on film and television production, in areas of cinematography, photography, sound, editing, lighting and scripting, among others.

A cross section of the participants expressed promised to put their newly acquired skills into practice.
