Former Nigerian Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, has strongly condemned the attempted assassination of United States President, Donald Trump, describing the act as an assault on democracy and the rule of law.
In a message addressed directly to the American leader and shared publicly, Atiku denounced political violence and emphasized that differences in ideology must never be settled through force.
“I strongly condemn the attempted assassination against you and any act of violence directed at public officials,” he stated. “Such actions are not only an attack on an individual, but on the very foundation of democracy itself.”
The former vice president stressed that democratic institutions must be upheld even in moments of intense political division.
“Political differences must never be resolved through violence. The rule of law, respect for institutions, and the will of the people must always prevail over fear and force,” he said.
