Operatives of the Sagamu Area Command of the Nigeria Police Force in Ogun State have arrested 146 suspects during a coordinated special raid tagged “Operation Keep Sagamu Safe,” carried out in collaboration with sister security agencies and local stakeholders.

The intelligence-led operation, conducted in the early hours of April 13, 2026, was aimed at preventing crime and addressing emerging security threats in Sagamu and surrounding communities.

According to a statement issued by the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, the exercise followed strategic engagements with traditional rulers, the Sagamu Local Government Council, and heads of security agencies to strengthen joint security coordination and enhance public safety.

The operation reportedly targeted identified flashpoints where suspected criminal activities had been observed, with security agencies moving in to forestall any breakdown of law and order.

The raid was jointly executed by the Nigeria Police Force alongside personnel of the military, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), the Amotekun Corps, the So-Safe Corps, and the Vigilante Group of Nigeria, in what authorities described as a unified and proactive security response.

The 146 suspects are currently undergoing screening to determine their level of involvement in suspected criminal activities. Authorities said those found culpable will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Abeokuta for further investigation and possible prosecution.

Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, commended the inter-agency cooperation, describing the operation as a demonstration of professionalism, discipline, and effective intelligence-led policing. He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to sustained efforts aimed at ensuring peace and security across Ogun State.

He also urged residents to remain vigilant and continue to support security agencies by reporting suspicious activities through the Ogun State Police Command emergency lines, including the toll-free Gateway Shield number 0800 000 9111 and other dedicated hotlines.

The Command said the operation reflects its ongoing strategy of proactive policing, community partnership, and coordinated security enforcement to curb rising criminal threats in the state.
