Police nab our suspected robbers, recover stolen motorcycle in Kwara
The Kwara State Police Command has arrested four suspected robbers and recovered a motorcycle allegedly stolen during an attack on two commuters in Ifelodun Local Government Area of the state.
The arrests followed a coordinated operation carried out by police operatives in collaboration with personnel of the National Forest Security Service shortly after the incident was reported.
According to a statement issued on Tuesday by the Police Public Relations Officer, Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, the attack occurred at about 8 p.m. on June 4 along the Ali Weree Camp axis of Ifelodun LGA.
She explained that the victims were returning from a market when they were reportedly ambushed by a group of armed men wielding sticks and cutlasses.
The suspects allegedly assaulted the commuters, inflicted injuries on them and forcefully took their motorcycle before fleeing the scene.
Following the report, security operatives launched a swift operation that led to the recovery of the stolen motorcycle and the arrest of four suspects identified as Umaru Haruna, Habibu Kale, Kire Yelwa and Iliyasu Gambo.
Ejire-Adeyemi said preliminary investigations indicated that the suspects acted in concert during the robbery operation.
The police spokesperson added that investigations are ongoing, while efforts are being intensified to ensure that all those connected to the crime are brought to justice.
