The Rotary Club of Jos has completed the construction of six new toilets and a hand-dug well for the staff and pupils of St. Paul’s Township Primary School in Jos.

The initiative is part of the club’s ongoing efforts to address pressing challenges faced by the school.

Mr. Mike Ukachi, District Governor of Rotary International District 9127, explained that the gesture was aimed at improving the school’s sanitary conditions.

Ukachi noted that the school had only one functional toilet, which was being used by both the pupils and staff, creating significant hygiene challenges.

“This project will help address the issue of open defecation, which is not only unhygienic but also a major contributor to the spread of diseases,” Ukachi said. “The new toilets will ensure a cleaner, healthier environment for both the students and staff, and the hand-dug well will provide a reliable water source to maintain the facilities.”

Ukachi commended the president and members of the Rotary Club of Jos for their generous financial contributions that made the construction of the toilets and well possible.

Mr. Frank Igboanugo, President of the Rotary Club of Jos, emphasized that the project aligns with one of the club’s key focus areas—health, hygiene, and sanitation.

He explained that the initiative was designed to improve the overall well-being of the pupils and staff by providing better sanitation facilities.
