Russian authorities have intensified media censorship to forestall further publicity blackmail and negative propaganda over the country’s military operations in Ukraine. Accordingly, the media regulator in Russia, Roskomnadzor, on Wednesday blocked access to media websites of about 10 organizations. Online blacklisting reports were identified to have escalated after President Vladimir Putin ordered special military operations in Ukraine.
Some of the affected media organizations were identified to include award-winning investigation website, Bellingcat; a Russian-language Israeli news site and regional websites, like Permdaily.ru. etc. Their websites were said to be labeled blocked by Roskomnadzor.
