According to Ukraine’s interior ministry, a total of eight individuals lost their lives, and thirteen sustained injuries on Saturday in Lyman, situated in eastern Ukraine, following an attack by Russian rockets.

The ministry conveyed via social media, “Presently, we have confirmation of 8 fatalities… The number of injured individuals has risen to 13.”

The assault resulted in the ignition of a residential building, an annex to a printing house, and three vehicles, as reported by the ministry.

Pavlo Kyrylenko, the governor of the Donetsk region where Lyman is located, stated, “At approximately 10:00 am, the town was targeted by the Russians utilizing multiple rocket launchers.”

While Lyman was initially seized by Russian forces, Ukraine’s army managed to reclaim control in October.

Ukraine has documented Russian offensive operations in the region throughout the week.

In the Russian-controlled town of Oleshky in southern Ukraine, an official from the emergency services stated, as reported by TASS news agency, that two civilians were killed due to Ukrainian gunfire overnight.

Over the past month, Ukrainian forces initiated a counteroffensive to regain control of Russian-occupied territories in the eastern and southern parts of the country.

Despite facing Russian defensive lines, they have only managed to recapture a few hundred square kilometers of land and approximately a dozen villages after more than a month of fighting.
