Manchester United’s late capitulation against Chelsea Thursday night has left bitter feelings in the minds of manager Erik ten Hag whose reins in charge of the Red Devils may be called into questions despite remaining in 6th place in the Premier League table.

The game was heading to a 3-3 draw but a late Cole Palmer goal ensured Manchester United went back empty-handed as costly defensive mistakes and poor decision-making derailed United.

The Dutch manager spoke to the media with understandable pain in his voice as chances for European qualification seem threatened teams like Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur also vie for continental spot.

“I had the feeling we were dominating the game, got ourselves into a winning position, scoring great goals,” Ten Hag told reporters.

“Then, in stoppage time, we didn’t manage to win. Of course it’s frustrating.

The former Ajax coach took a swipe at his players for an abject lack of concentration.

“We made individual errors that cost us the game.

The players know their jobs and they didn’t make the right decisions.

We have to read when to keep the ball, to pass, move and switch the play when we are winning.

“In five days we dropped five points.

That is unacceptable. We gave away a game we should have won.”

Manchester United are currently 6th on the table with 48 points.
