The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, has received a consignment of protective equipment donated by a United States-based organisation aimed at improving the safety and operational capacity of frontline officers of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF).
The donation was formally presented on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, at the Force Headquarters in Abuja by Signal 63 Ministries, working in collaboration with Fundamental Baptist Ministry International. The initiative was facilitated by Mr. Bill Graham of Signal 63 Ministries alongside Reverend and Mrs. Philemon Sidi.
Speaking during the handover ceremony, IGP Disu described the donation as a timely intervention that would strengthen the protection and effectiveness of officers operating in high-risk environments. The equipment includes specialised protective gear designed to enhance safety during tactical and field operations.
“The well-being of our personnel is not negotiable,” Disu said. “This donation will significantly improve the safety and confidence of our frontline officers as they carry out their duties. We are grateful to Signal 63 Ministries and the Sidi family for this support.”
Since assuming office in February 2026, the police chief has consistently emphasised reforms aimed at building a technology-driven and intelligence-led policing system. The latest donation aligns with his broader agenda to reduce officer casualties and improve operational efficiency across commands.
At the National Police Day celebration earlier in April, the IGP reiterated the need for innovation, international collaboration, and stronger community partnerships to address evolving security threats.
The Nigeria Police Force described the collaboration with Signal 63 Ministries as part of a growing trend of international non-governmental support for local security institutions.
Mr. Graham and the Sidi family were commended for what authorities called their “selfless commitment” to strengthening Nigeria’s security architecture.
The Force Headquarters confirmed that the newly received equipment will be immediately deployed to tactical units and high-risk formations across the country where operational demands are most intense.
